Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
The law of God must never be viewed as a restriction on your liberties. Instead, it is a veritable guarantor of our liberties, when goodness, righteousness, and truth are the objectives. Thus, the argument that is so often put forth by man’s nemesis, that obeying God would put you at a disadvantage, is just a big, fat lie, plain and simple….. Deuteronomy 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord God commanded me, that you should do so in the land whither you go to possess it.
Deuteronomy 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. 8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? 40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, forever.
[S.P bk 4, pp 401] Let the restraint imposed by the divine law be wholly removed, and human laws would soon be disregarded. Because God forbids dishonest practices, coveting, lying, and defrauding, men are ready to trample upon his statutes as a hindrance to their worldly prosperity. But the results of banishing these precepts would be such as they do not anticipate. Property would no longer be safe.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
