God Is Still In Control. Part [5] 07/20/2022 (Evening thought)

Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

If it were up to satan alone, he would have taken vengeance on anyone who would dare to threaten Christ’s life. Thus, he was put in the most miserable position of having to play his part, against his own will. God had predicted it in scripture, satan studied it, and now, without the use of force on God’s part, he is backed into a corner and left no choice but to fulfill God’s word to the letter.

Everything that persons and demons could do was incorporated into God’s planning, from the priests to Pilate, from the mob to Judas, even the Roman guards who were stationed at Christ’s tomb, with the hosts of evil angels gathered around, everyone and everything was incorporated into God’s plans, and inevitably facilitated His good will.

[The Desire of Ages pp 782] When Jesus was laid in the grave, Satan triumphed. He dared to hope that the Savior would not take up His life again. He claimed the Lord's body, and set his guard about the tomb, seeking to hold Christ a prisoner. He was bitterly angry when his angels fled at the approach of the heavenly messenger. When he saw Christ come forth in triumph, he knew that his kingdom would have an end, and that he must finally die.

Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
