Romans 9:16 So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shews mercy. 17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardens.
Indeed, the bottom line for us is whether we will be on The Lord’s side or not, but His side is always the winning side, and therefore, His ways and purposes are eventually, and inevitably going to rule the day. When Judas betrayed Christ, it seemed to some as if evil had triumphed, but here again even the devices of devils were incorporated into God’s planning and what they did actually facilitated God’s will.
In fact, when the curtain that divides the invisible world from the visible, we will discover that devils were much more afraid of the dead Jesus than the living Christ before he died. Thus, while poor ignorant human beings were there mocking, scorning, and laughing at Christ, satan was not laughing at all, for he understood better than any person did, that the dead Jesus posed a serious threat to his kingdom.
Some may not have been aware of this fact, but if there was one person on the planet who sincerely desired to save Christ from the cross, it was satan. In fact, he literally begged Christ not to die, but it was only when Christ insisted on dying that satan pulled out all the stops, and made Christ’s death as bitter, as horrible and as miserable as it could be.
Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
