John 2:9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
Again, if persons desire to consume alcohol such as your Johnny Walker black, or a Bud light, or any of those rare French wines that are sold, without any compunctions of conscience, there are scriptures that could be lifted from the Bible, to try and show support for that indulgence too.
Notice that the scripture does not say exactly what type of wine it was that Jesus made, whether it was the pure juice of the grape, or whether it was wine fermented with alcohol. It leaves the conclusion up in the air, so that if persons desire to interpret it as booze in this instance, he/she is free to do so.
But to a reasonable thinking mind such a conclusion would obviously raise some serious questions, given that the very same Jesus inspired prophets to write sternly against the use of fermented beverages. So, it is unlikely that He will in one breath sanction the use of booze, and then in another instance, utterly rail against it.
Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
