Romans 14: 14 I know, and I am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteems anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
This is not the only scripture which treats upon the matter of diets and foods, because, according to our first passage, line must be upon line and precept upon precept. Therefore, before we run away with those texts we just read, let us examine other passages which deal with the issue.
Sharks, oysters, stone crabs, shrimp, mussels, and a multitude of other crustaceans obviously do not fit the stipulation given in Leviticus 11, and thus, when Paul says that The Lord revealed to him that there is nothing unclean of itself, persons should not run with that passage alone, to quiet their consciences.
The line upon line method of scriptural interpretation would go a long way in dispelling the darkness and errors perpetrated by devils and men, for when the Bible is studied as it ought to be studied, the truths of God’s word, and His ideals for the human family will always shine forth in clear steady rays of light, to those are are disposed to believe and obey God.
Leviticus 11:9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. 10 And all that have not fins, and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you. 11 You shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcass in abomination.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
