The Spirit Of Unbelief. Part [5] 07/03/2021 (Evening thought)

Exodus 14:15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward. 16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

If in the Hebrew’s attempt to cross the Red sea, God were to park a Carnival cruise line ship near the shore most of them wouldn’t have had any problem with that. But to walk across is an entirely different story, for the mental roadblocks to doing so would be logic, science, and a lack of precedent.

Naaman would gladly have preferred to take one of those pharmaceutical concoctions, with names that cannot be pronounced, rather than dip seven times. It was the sheer simplicity of the method Elisha had given that irritated him, but if he were instructed to undergo some complex intricate medical procedure, he would not have batted an eye.

On this issue of the methods of faith persons should never conclude that God is giving us uncanny ways and means for the sole purpose of humbling human pride. This is an entirely erroneous view, for we are to remember that as fallen humanity, we have become accustomed to doing things in ways which God never originally intended.

Ecclesiastes 7:29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
