When Shall These Things be? Part [9] 07/19/2021 (Evening thought)

Psalms 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

You will notice that for every distress, perplexity or danger mentioned by the prophets of God, the Bible gives us mighty promises of God to lean on. One thing the Bible does not do is to suggest the use of any man-made efforts, such as doomsday bunkers, and hoarding groceries, as mitigation strategies. But it does enjoin faith and obedience as the only way to survive.

And we can go on, and on, and on, but it will do us no good to be overwhelmed with prophecies that predict doom, if there’s no way of escape. This leads us to that cryptic statement that we have repeated ever so often on this forum. Here it is: One day soon, in the not too distant future, all those who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior will be mighty glad they did so.

The reason for this statement is that the Christian’s refuge is not to be found in man-made solutions, or in hoarding precious goods and groceries. Our hope is to be centered in Christ, who desires that through believing in Him and loving obedience, we may come to an intelligent understanding of His character, and thus be found in a relationship with Him.

Ecclesiastes 8:12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
