Understanding The Term "Babylon". 09/21/2015 (Morning thought)

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus".....

The term "Babylon" basically means confusion, being originally derived from the time when the singular language of earth was split up into a multitude of languages in the plain of Shinar, the ancient site of the city of Babylon. After the flood, earth's inhabitants did not believe God's promise, that He would no more destroy the earth by a deluge of water, and in harmony with their unbelief, they began to build a skyscraper of stupendous height, so as to be safe from any future floods, and also to ascertain the reason and cause of the the first. Let's read:

Genesis 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. 4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. 6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language"... 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

So God saw fit to confound their speech at this time, and by so doing, they were forced to leave off the construction of the building, and were consequently dispersed throughout the earth. Thus the term Babylon signifies confusion, which in the spiritual sense, means a system of religious beliefs and creeds which are not only unscriptural like the ancient project, but also which make no sense whatsoever.

One of the foremost teachings of this system of erroneous doctrines is Sunday sacredness, by which it is claimed by the papacy, that the sacredness of the original Sabbath was transferred to Sunday, the first day of the week, by the sole authority of man, since there are no scriptures to support such a claim. When God gave the seventh day Sabbath to man in the Garden of Eden, as a sacred memorial of His creative work, the holiness of the day was founded on His presence being manifested over the sacred hours, and thus the day is not like any other, even though worship services may be held on any other day of the week. Let's read:

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The same principle is true of the experience by which God commanded Moses to take off his shoes from off his feet, for the place whereon he was standing was holy ground. It was God's presence that made the place holy, and thus, His person being present is what makes both the day and the place sacred, in both instances. Let's read:

Exodus 3:1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. 2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

Thus it is, that the claim of the papacy to have removed the sanctity of the original seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week, means that they have moved the very Person of God, which in essence makes mortal man greater than God by this singular authoritative act. But God is immovable, and therefore this prominent doctrine of Babylon is not only false, but is also an affront to the King of kings, and a high-handed act of rebellion against one of His most sacred institutions.

Therefore, any Christian who is currently under the teaching of Sunday sacredness, is under the Babylonian system of worship, and even though they may be sincere in what they believe, there remains not one single text or passage in the scriptures, pointing us to, or sanctioning any such form of worship. Let's read:

Exodus 31:13 "Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. 14 Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you"....

Isaiah 66:1 Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool"... 22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that"... "from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

God is now calling all of His people who are now sitting in the shadow of the Babylonian system of worship, to come out and take a resolute stand for truth and righteousness, by honoring Him on His sacred day, and by signally rejecting Sunday sacredness to the contrary. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which confirms this sacred truth, and wherever we may have violated His commands inadvertently, God will be more than pleased and willing to forgive, for He takes delight in mercy, and has no desire that any should perish, because of a lack of knowledge. Let's read:

Isaiah 56:1 Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. 2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it".... 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant.7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer"... "for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study and practice of His every word. God bless!
