Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
[Testimonies 3, pp 491] The controlling power of appetite will prove the ruin of thousands, when, if they had conquered on this point, they would have had moral power to gain the victory over every other temptation of Satan. As we near the close of time, Satan’s temptation to indulge appetite will be more powerful, and more difficult to overcome…. Thus, we ask ourselves the question again, what might we selling our ticket to heaven for?
We do sincerely hope that this is not and would not be the case with any of us. That being said, we should do all within our power, by the grace of God to help everyone to stay the course with Christ. Heaven will indeed be a place of surprises, hence the reason why we should seek to understand the meaning of the following parable. We should also seek to appropriate the lessons we will learn, for it is the will of God that no effort be spared in saving all, who can be saved in His kingdom.
Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Matthew 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
