Genesis 2:23 And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Many of the things man claims to have invented actually originated with Christ, but you almost never hear persons giving Him the credit and the glory for such things. In our culture, and in very many cultures around the world, it is customary for the woman to take on the name of her husband, so that for instance, you will have brother Richard and Shelley Mckenzie. That is something that also originated with God, for as was stated before, many of the things we do, and sometimes take for granted, have originated with Him.
Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created…. After forming Adam from the dust of the earth, God caused all the animals to pass before him, to see the extent of Adam’s intelligence, in naming the animals he would see for the very first time.
And as he gave them the correct names, Adam observed a pattern emerging. All of the animals had their soul mate, the male with his female but for Adam there was none. Eve wasn’t an afterthought, because God had planned to create Adam’s soul mate in the fullness of time, but like He often does, He permitted Adam to realize his needs first, so that the fulfilment thereof would then be greatly appreciated.
Genesis 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
