Heaven, A Place of Surprises. Part [2] 03/13/2026 (Morning thought)

Genesis 19:12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place.

Christ died for us individually, not collectively, and therefore, the decision for Christ is a personal one, which other persons should not be allowed to affect in a negative way. That’s one of the reasons Mrs. Lot     will not be in heaven, because she didn’t take kindly to the fact that many of her family members chose to stay in Sodom. While the Christian must not cease to pray, night and day, for family members and relatives who have not yet accepted Christ, we must respect their freedom of choice,.

If they choose differently we should pray and ask God to intervene however and whichever way He can, but at the end of the day, the desire to be saved is an individual one. No love lost! God had given every member of Lot’s family ample opportunity to make their escape, but most of them made an adult decision to reject God’s grace, and as such Jesus respected their freedom of choice.

A very interesting commentary is written concerning the mindset of Lot and his wife at this particular time…… [Patriarchs & Prophets pp 159>160] The strangers who Lot had endeavored to protect now promised to protect him, and to save also all the members of his family who would flee with him from the wicked city. Lot went out to warn his children. But he seemed to them as one that mocked. They laughed at what they called his superstitious fears. His daughters were influenced by their husbands. Lot returned sorrowfully to his home and told the story of his failure.

Genesis 19:13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxed great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
