1st Samuel 8:18 And you shall cry out in that day because of your king which you shall have chosen you; and the Lord will not hear you in that day.
Hence the reason why leaders of nations especially, are encouraged and counseled to pray for wisdom to govern in harmony with God’s will, for this is the only way that calamity and embarrassment could be averted. 1st Kings 3:5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, You have shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
1st Kings 3:7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
1st Kings 3:10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. The reason for this is that in ancient times, the king was not generally held to account as your average John Doe, in so much that crimes tolerated in the king, were not generally punished, and this practice often caused them to behave in ways that were downright outrageous and appalling.
Deuteronomy 16: 18 Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. 20 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
