A scripture For Everything. Part [15] 05/22/2022 (Evening thought)

2nd Samuel 12: 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus, saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things.

Again, depending on the purposes of the reader, a person might seem to be able to justify polygamy, since many God-fearing men in times past had a duplicity of wives. In fact, the twelve tribes of Israel descended from polygamy, and if one so desires, the scripture can be referenced in an attempt to sanction the practice.

Solomon was Bathsheba’s son, David had at least eleven wives, and Solomon, who is called the wise man steals the show with over one thousand. These men wrote many chapters in the Bible, and to folks who are looking for an extramarital affair, some of the passages in scripture might seem to provide the necessary support he or she needs.

But these instances stand in marked contrast to other passages written in both the Old and New testaments, and therefore, if the reader desires a rendezvous in the Appalachian trail, or a mistress outside of the marriage, there you go.

Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
