Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
The explanations, the dreams and the visions given would only make sense to spouses who are spiritual because the natural man does not receive things of The Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. To try to explain to a person who is not spiritual, that one became pregnant by A Spirit would cause most folks in the secular realm to recoil with scorn.
Even Joseph was not buying the explanation initially given by Mary, because the Bible says that he was thinking to put her away, to call off the marriage, albeit in the most-kind manner possible.
Me personally, I would have a hard time swallowing that explanation, and we believe that is the reason why God had to intervene in a dream to Joseph, to allay his fears and concerns.
Matthew 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife.
