Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Obeying the commandments and instructions given in the Bible begins with believing. Accepting Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives begins with believing. And, as the Christian faces numerous foes, within and without, each victory, and every hurdle is won and overcome respectively by believing.
Hence the reason why the following verses are so critically important to the doctrine of righteousness by faith, for it focuses our attention, not on our own righteousness, but the righteousness of Jesus which is then given as a free gift to all who believe.
Like Abraham, we can become pretty discouraged if and when we look at our performances. But when we focus on the perfect righteousness of Christ, our hope is revived and strengthened, for since God has accepted Christ we too are accepted in the Beloved, but again, it begins and continues with belief.
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
