John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
Eternal salvation is not something any person can attain to on their own, because the very meaning of the word, suggests to our minds that Someone has to do the salvaging. We have gone to the junk yard on several occasions and have seen thousands of cars with the potential to be salvaged, but in every instance, it is someone who must do the salvaging, never the car of itself.
Righteousness by faith is not something that human agents can do, for it is an impossibility, and as such, must be done in us by God. When God made that promise to Abraham, He wasn’t suggesting that the fulfillment thereof was to be a sort of joint venture between God and man, even though Abraham was to cooperate with God.
In the fulness of time, God would do the impossible and He would also give grace and strength to Sarah and Abraham so that impossibility would synthesize with reality. Isaac was the product of a miracle, and every person who believes would be a product of a miracle by God alone.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, You must be born again.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
