DEUTERONOMY 18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
NOW LET’S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT SOME OF THE SCRIPTURES WHICH INCLUDE THE PHRASE “IN MY NAME”.
JEREMIAH 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies “in my name”: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their heart.
JEREMIAH 29:9 For they prophesy falsely unto you “in my name”: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
A VERY IMPORTANT TRUTH FOR US TO REMEMBER AS WE STUDY THESE PASSAGES, IS THAT THERE ARE SOME WHOM GOD HAS ORDAINED TO PREACH, AND THERE ARE OTHERS WHOM HE PERMITS TO PREACH. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO CATEGORIES.
MATTHEW 10:1 And when he had called unto [him] his twelve disciples, he gave them power [against] unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother; 10:3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
