Daniel 1:10 And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
Those words: “Your faces worse liking” uttered by the Chef implied that the Hebrews’ proposal would be detrimental to their health, that it would cause them to perform below par, that it would endanger their lives, and make them more susceptible to Babylonian diseases and pandemics, worse yet, it could put the Chef’s own life in jeopardy.
Furthermore, if one were to follow the Chef’s logic to its natural end, the dietary plan proposed by the Hebrews would also adversely affect their ability to excel academically thus placing their careers as well their education on the line.
Dr. Fauci! Anyone can easily understand the Chef’s concern, for according to conventional wisdom, it was the very best that he was offering to the three Hebrews. However, from the resulting data, Melzar would be able to draw a rational conclusion. And so said so done.
Daniel 1:14 So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. 15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. 16 Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
