Jude 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference. 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire.
God saves to the uttermost by dragging some persons to repentance, for with some folks, that’s the only method that works for them. After exhausting methods of loving-kindness, grace and entreaty, and yet persons still will not respond, then God has to move to the next level in His efforts to save to the uttermost. A firefighter pleads with someone to leave a burning building, but for some reason or another that person refuses to respond.
Then, in an act of desperation, the fire fighter leaps into the building and drags the person to safety. Thus, it has been throughout sacred history, where in some cases, God had to drag some of us to safety because entreaty failed to accomplish the work of saving to the uttermost. After repeatedly rejecting God’s gracious overtures to him, Manasseh had to be dragged to repentance.
Years of grace and mercy had been spurned and the Lord had sent various prophets and different people to speak to Manasseh about the evils he had been indulging, yet for all this he would not hear, but dug himself deeper into the pit. But there was hope for Manasseh, because some persons only respond to dragging, even though God prefers not to employ this method.
2nd Chronicles 33:10 And the Lord spoke to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken. 11 Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. 12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
