Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
This passage of scripture represents a clear command coming from Jehovah, that no one is authorized to add to, or diminish from His word, for when this is done it opens the door for a variety of distortions and false theories to flourish, and once we have embarked upon that course of action, there is usually no point of return. In our man-made system of statutes and laws, we often find it necessary to continuously upgrade, amend, and alter the laws that are already on the books, because with the passage of time they are seen to be seriously flawed, irrelevant, or even inappropriate. And because we are imperfect, and are incapable of making or instituting any perfect laws, we have to keep on adding new statutes to those that are already on the books, and these new laws often run upwards of 35,000 per year in the U.S alone.
In stark contrast, God has only ten, governing our relationship to God and our interaction with our fellowmen, and therefore we are strictly prohibited from interfering with them for any and every reason, especially because they are so few in number. Because God's law is perfect, it does not need any improvements whatsoever, for they were given in infinite wisdom, to govern not only our planet, but also the entire universe. Hence the reason why to manipulate them in any manner, is to endeavor to interfere with the structural operation of the universe, an action to which God has attached very severe penalties. Let's read:
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
But there are those who have dared to make changes to the word of God, and because of these efforts there is now a movement underway to make the Bible say what we feel it should say, a very dangerous course of action indeed. A prime example of what we are speaking of can be found in the catechism of the Roman Catholic church, in which there are several blatant omissions to the fourth commandment, which ultimately make very vague, what God has made very plain. The following is the original translation of the Sabbath commandment from the king James version, in which several important facts about creation, and God's jurisdiction and His authority are included. Let's read:
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
In this commandment, the name and title of The Great Law-giver is presented, His rightful authority to rule our planet and the universe is established beyond the shadow of a doubt. In addition to these facts, the verses clearly delineate which day is the Sabbath day, thus leaving no room for any private interpretations or misunderstandings as to whether it is the seventh day of the week, or Sunday. But in the Roman catechism, a total of eighty seven words have been removed, and thus with the bulk of the information missing, multitudes are left to beat about upon the rocks of infidelity, because in the seven word alteration, the "Lord's Day" is not even specified, thus leaving the door wide open for it to be interpreted as being any day of the week, including Wednesday, Tuesday, or Friday, which is the holy day in Islamic culture. Let's read:
PART THREE
LIFE IN CHRIST
SECTION TWO
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
3. Remember to keep holy the LORD'S Day.
In our day, many theologians are following where Rome has led the way, and therefore we now are bombarded with a plethora of divergent interpretations of scripture, which do real violence to the plainest utterances of Jehovah. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we do not fall for the many snares that are laid for the feet of the unwary, by accepting these sacrilegious perversions of the scriptures, for many people are thus misled, and because error does not set anyone free, millions of sincere Christians are now wandering in darkness.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which warns us against the use of any "Private interpretations" for our spiritual health and well-being, depend upon the plain, unadulterated truths God has given us to live by. Let's read:
2nd Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
