Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
This passage of scripture teaches us one of the most sacred truths, that our planet was not made from materials that previously existed before creation week, neither did God begin to bring order out of chaos to a world that existed for millions of years in embryo form. This is one of the erroneous teachings that has gained popularity in many Christian circles, and is now countenanced by many prominent theologians. But what it really is must be identified as a sort of marriage between evolution and creation, where on the one hand many believe that God's creative power was displayed during the first week of creation, while at the same time they hold that the earth existed in chaotic form for millions of years.
The passage above in Exodus explains the issue with such clarity that we need not be in doubt as to the truth of the matter, for it says that the heavens, the earth, and the sea, and all that is in them was created during the first six working days, and therefore the word "All" must of necessity preclude the notion that anything was in existence in any form whatsoever, before creation week. In addition to this, the apostle Paul, under the inspiration of The Holy Ghost sheds more light on the sacred truth, by dealing with the issue of non-preexistent matter, as it pertains to the creation of our world. Let's read:
Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
If the Sabbath of the fourth commandment was kept as it ought to be, then the many spurious, divergent theories and suppositions of science so-called would have found no place in our belief system, nor yet in our educational system, and thus the real issue at stake is not merely the teachings of evolution, but the Sabbath, which the world just can't seem to "Remember". By honoring God on His sacred day, we acknowledge that the earth and all that pertains to it was created in six working days, after which God rested on the seventh day, thus setting us the example we should follow for time and for eternity.
Let us therefore not be carried about by every wind of doctrine that may come our way, but let us rather lay hold on eternal life by believing and applying the sacred truths that have been given to us for our own good. For God to give us one day off of our busy schedules each week is not a bad thing but a good thing, and it would be well if our earthly employers could follow in His footsteps. But since this is not the case in most instances, we will have to stand our ground upon a "Thus saith The Lord" without turning to the right hand or to the left.
We therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls on us to return to the keeping of the seventh day Sabbath, for if we do, God will not only bless us tremendously, but we will be saved from the errors and falsehoods that have now become the order of the day. Let's read:
Isaiah 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
