The Convergence Of Morning And Night. 07/02/2015 (Evening thought)

Isaiah 21:11  The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?  12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night.

This passage of scripture teaches us the sacred truth that in the very near future there will be a convergence of night and day, meaning that gross spiritual darkness will cover the earth, but also that great light will be shed across the entire globe at the same time. The great spiritual darkness here referred to is a signal and deliberate departure from the law of God, which is described in the Psalms as being "The Truth". The "Morning" spoken of by the prophet has to do with the latter rain that is to be poured out upon the entire world, so that every person living at that time may be able to make an intelligent choice between light and darkness, and between good and evil. Let's read:

Isaiah 60:1  Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.  3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Spiritual darkness has already enveloped the earth like a pall of death, to the point where we now call evil good, and good evil. When the truth is removed from our consciences, then we are left as a ship without a rudder, to beat about upon the rocks of infidelity and gross errors, because of the absence of absolute truth. And we should never be deceived by the many so-called manifestations of "Love" as they are portrayed in the media by the countenancing of sin, for the Bible does not describe those actions as love, but as deep hatred towards one fellows.

Any person, whether they be Christian or not, who stands idly by while his or her neighbor is destroying himself through the indulgence of known sin, and sinful practices, is not a "loving" person, but a murderer, for they quietly fold their arms whilst their fellowman digs his grave with his teeth, or with the evils which inevitably result in death.

Hence the reason why the promise of great light is made by The God of heaven, to counteract the spiritual darkness that has enshrouded the world. As the servants of God, we are not to sit quietly whilst we watch the nation and individuals go over the moral cliff into the abyss, where it is almost impossible to reach them. Like faithful Ezekiel and the other prophets of old, we should lift up our voice like a trumpet, by sounding the alarm of impending judgments and the near close of probation, so that any rational thinking person may have opportunity to make their escape whilst they can.

The messages we are given to bear to a dying world are not those smooth, pacifying sermons that are often presented from the pulpits across the land, but should instead call the people to urgent repentance, through confession of sin and turning to Christ. This indeed is the tenor of Joel's song as he writes concerning the time here being spoken of. Let's read:

Joel 2:1  Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;  2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.  12 Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:  13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

In our day it seems as if the Christian world has been lulled to sleep, whilst the adversary has been making inroads into our culture and consciousness, turning them upside down whilst we are absorbed in buying and selling, and retirement and creature comforts, to the point where a fire is now burning just outside our doors, whilst we sit calmly with our hands folded in restful sleep. The convergence of night and day is right at our very door steps, and thus it behooves every true soldier of the cross to awake out of slumber, and clothe ourselves with the full armor of God, so that we may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.

We therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls on all true Christians to take the triumphs of the Cross to the very gates of hell, so that the fearful departures from the law and God's righteousness we are now witnessing, may be reversed in those who may not have known better. Let's read:

2nd Timothy 4:1  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;  2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.  3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;  4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.  5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. "Good night" and God bless!
