The "Fool" says There Is No God. 01/31/2015 (Morning thought)

Psalm 14:1  The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.  2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.  3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This passage of scripture makes special reference to members of the human family who insist on denying the existence of God, even though there is an abundance of undeniable evidence to the contrary. All of us have been born in sin and shapen in iniquity, so that none may claim inherent goodness, as the passage rightly states. However, there is a world of difference between a sinner who acknowledges the existence of The Creator, and one who doesn't, because a denial of the existence of God preempts any effort on His part to save us. In other words, if a person believes that there is no God, then they will not believe in His salvation, and if this error is cherished tenaciously, it will put the restoration of our broken relationship with the God-Head permanently out of reach.

In treating upon the issue of faith the apostle Paul states that it is not possible to please God if one does not believe that He exists, and in that same passage Paul also gives the scriptural evidences and accounts of God's creative works, which are all around, beneath, and above us, for we are all partakers of His existence, whether we believe it or not. Not even satan could exist without God, and yet many poor mortals question and quibble irreverently from time to time about His existence and eternal God-Head. Let's read:

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Psalm 19:1  The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

In our day, the theory of evolution, as taught in our public schools is breeding atheists by the millions, and the sure result is a deteriorating state of society where no absolute moral code is recognized, and where everyone becomes a law unto themselves. The very great departures from truth and duty we are currently witnessing is a direct result of a flawed system of education where multitudes are taught that we evolved from some lower forms of life by "Accident", a theory which in itself is pretty scary, for if we came here by accident, who knows when the next accident will occur, and worst yet, what it would look like. Hence the reason why the God of heaven appeals to our intelligence and counsels us to lift up our eyes and behold the wonders of the universe, and then reconsider the absurd theories we are teaching our children. Let's read:

Isaiah 40:25  To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.  26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

If kids are taught that they evolved from monkeys, then when they behave like monkeys we should keep silent for they are just following in the footsteps of their so-called predecessors. The Psalmist says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and when we contemplate the intricate working of the human machinery, it speaks volumes to us, that there must be an intelligent God somewhere. After the twin towers in New York city were destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, plans were immediately put in place to rebuild, and extensive architectural work and deliberate planning and execution went into what we now see as the new world trade centers. But if someone were to start teaching in our universities that such intelligent and intricate work came about as a result of a big bang, then most Americans would become deeply offended, and that person might very well be taken out with a "Big bang", no pun intended.

Amidst the various unintelligible theories that abound which pertain to the non-existence of God, let us remember that creation alone makes sense, and when we believe that an Intelligent God is behind what we now see, we will be prepared to receive the much greater truth, that God is behind all which we do not see. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which both instructs and cautions us about tampering in any way with the sacred truth of God's existence, for what we believe will certainly shape our eternal destiny. Let's read:

Romans 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;  19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.  20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

May God add His blessing to the study and practice of His word. God bless!
