Isaiah 40:25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
This passage of scripture reminds us that there is A God in the heavens who not only created the world, but also sustains it on an on-going basis by His mighty power. On of the mind- boggling aspects of God's creative work is His singular ability to create material things without using any raw materials. In the beginning when the earth was created the Bible tells us that He called the world into existence by His word alone, not using any preexisting raw materials to accomplish it. Let's read:
Psalms 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
The power of God to call materials and living organisms into existence out of thin air is what drew the appropriate response of praise and adoration from the heavenly angels and other un-fallen worlds, as they beheld with their own eyes, suns, stars and systems coming upon the stage of action in obedience to the spoken word of God. This takes science to a whole new level as never before experienced by any mortal man. Let's read:
Job 38:1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,11 And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?
It was for these reasons that find no scientific explanation, that The Lord then gave us the seventh day Sabbath as a memorial of His created works, in which we can reflect not only on His power to create, but also to render Him the appropriate response of praise and thanksgiving for all that He has done, and continues to do for us. Let's read:
Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
In our day we are in very grave danger of taking God out of the human equation, by adopting systems of government, and methods of education which remove Him far from His creation, thereby denying His existence and His daily sustaining power, exercised in behalf of the common good. We need to be very careful that a repetition of ancient history does not occur in our day on account of a willful disregard of the fourth commandment, because from all appearances, it seem as if the modern day, spiritual king of Babylon is poised to take center stage. We therefore end with a passage of scripture which calls us back to the worship of the one and only true God, by a proper observation of the Sabbath he has ordained, so that the multitude of irresolvable problems that are arising on a daily basis, do not overwhelm us to the point of no return. Let's read:
2nd Chronicles 36:15 And the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy. 20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: 21 To fulfil the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what The Spirit saith unto the churches. God bless!
