Luke 16:10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
This passage of scripture teaches us that whatsoever we do in the minor affairs of life will translate into the larger issues, because our characters run as a common cord throughout all of our experiences. It is often the case that our attitude in little things is taken as being of no consequence, whereas we may put forth painstaking efforts in the handling of greater matters. But our passage of scripture teaches us that faithfulness in handling our temporal affairs in the material world is a prerequisite for the management of the immortal inheritance which fadeth not away.
This sacred truth is often overlooked by well-meaning Christians as being of little or no importance, and thus in some cases there is seen in the management of our temporal affairs, a slackness or thoughtlessness that is productive of great evil, and if these attitudes are not promptly dealt with, they could finally debar us from entering the goodly land, this according to the Bible. Let's read:
Luke 16:1And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
The unfaithful steward in the parable was dealing with a slack hand as it pertained to his master's wealth, for he erroneously thought that the "Good times" will last forever, and because of this retrogressive mode of thought, he squandered carelessly the precious resources placed under his jurisdiction, not cognizant of the fact that a sudden audit by his master was on the way. The Bible teaches us to be wise and intelligent in the management of temporal goods, for our characters are built up or broken down by the way the material and temporal affairs of life are interfaced with principle. In other words, if we waste in monetary affairs, we will also waste in spiritual affairs, and if we deal loosely when it comes to business, we will also deal in like manner when it pertains to spiritual matters. In either case, both temporal and spiritual poverty will be the result. Let's read:
Proverbs 10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
In our own personal experiences, may we endeavor by the grace of God to apply the eternal principles of His kingdom evenly across the entire spectrum of our experiences, so that at the end of life's journey, the following passage of scripture may become a living reality. Let's read:
Matthew 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
May God add His blessing to the study and doing of His every word. God bless!
