Expect A Blessing. Part [7] 03/16/2025 (Morning thought)

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

A couple weeks ago I was working all day in the sun on Friday, and when I was finished, I was feeling for sweet bread with raisins. So, I drove to a bakery on 27th Ave but apparently it was closed. Then I thought of another one in the area, on 183rd street and N.W 7th Ave, but because the sun would be setting in an hour, I decided not to go there, so I decided to try another bakery closer to home. I drove by another location where I thought I had seen a bakery, but again, nothing was there.

Next, I went to another bakery, in my area, searching, and hoping to find some sweetbread with raisins, but no luck. Then, I saw Subway, and on the menu, they did have a footlong cookie that I thought might do the trick, but when I read the fine print, it had over thirteen hundred calories, and I remembered the health message, so I decided not to move forward with that option. Thus, in my utter disappointment I turned to leave, when The Lord said, it’s time to go home, because the sun will be setting in a few, and the edges of the Sabbath must be guarded.

Then, God put a word in my mind saying: “Go home, go home, because you never know, go home because you never know”. I immediately began to repeat the saying, go home, go home because you never know. I did, and lo and behold, as I opened the door, the smell of a freshly baked sweetbread, with raisins was in the air, even though I had spoken nothing at all of my cravings. I started to muse in my mind as I remembered the word of The Lord which said “Go home, go home, because you never know” Did I at first expect to pay for it? Yes, I did. But we must always leave the door of possibilities open for God, because “You never know”.

Psalms 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!

Expect A Blessing. Part [6] 03/16/2025 (Evening thought)

2nd Kings 4:9 And she said unto her husband, Behold, now, I perceive that this is a holy man of God which passes by us continually. 10 Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he comes to us, that he shall turn in thither.

2nd Kings 4:11 And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there. 12 And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him. 13 And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.

In our day the room would have come complete with a computer, Wi-Fi and air conditioning if it was located in South Florida yet, Elisha did not ask for the blessing, nor did he presume to think that just because he was God’s prophet that he was entitled to these freebies. The problem is that the Christian often restricts God to man’s finite ways and means up front, so that He is essentially locked out of the miraculous from the get go.

And therefore, persons may approach this or that situation with preconceived limitations as to what The Lord can, or cannot do. Therefore, while on the one hand the Christian is to expect to conform to systems, ways and means that apply to everyone else, he should not close the door to the possibility, that in this or that situation, God may shell out a blessing, because you never know!

2nd Kings 4:14 And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. 15 And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
