Matthew 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
There are certain situations, especially when dealing with chronic pain, where the dosages have to be increased incrementally over a period of time, since the body no longer responds positively to the former, smaller dosages. This creates an ongoing dependence on pain killers and as larger and more potent dosages are taken as prescribed the body keeps on adapting until it could reach a point where it doesn’t respond at all, to any drug, or to any dose,.
That’s because over a period of time, of extended use the brain can become desensitized. When this becomes the case, the person could find themselves in an unfortunate situation, where there is constant pain, and discomfort disturbing the body continually, with relief becoming ever more out of reach. Lower back pain, and joint pain often become more frequent and intense with age, which leads to pain killers as a go to source for relief.
Due caution must be exercised when dealing with chronic pain, for if it is the case that strong pain killers are prescribed, it will be prudent and wise to inquire about the long- term effects on mind and body. Strong pain killers, such as Oxycodone and Fentanyl are notorious for training your brain to crave more, and more of the drug. Over a period of time, with increased dosages, and an increase in frequency of use, persons could become addicted, and when this is the case you could find yourself trapped in a cycle from which there is little hope of escape.
Ezekiel 30:9 In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
