Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Several examples in the Scriptures tell us beyond all doubt, that waiting upon God constitutes one of the main problems that needs to addressed in the lives of all who believe and as we study sacred history we will discover that very often we have been walking in the shoes of those who have gone before. We begin with the father of the faithful and his wife, who were tested upon this point and failed when it seemed as if God was taking too long.
The promise was made to Abraham and Sarah, that they would have a son, and they believed God at the first. But as many years went by, and nothing seemed to be happening, they began to wonder how long will be reasonable for them to wait for the fulfillment of the promise. One year, two years, twenty years? As time passed by, Sarah became restless, and uneasy. And in that frame of mind, she became ripe for one of the favorite, and most successful assaults of the devil.
Sarah watched in sheer dismay as menopause set in, and based upon science as we know it, the logic of the prince of darkness began to make sense. The Christian must beware lest logic becomes the director of your faith, because many will stumble on the issue of rational reasoning, when it comes time to wait upon God. In fact, when you think about it closely, most of the heroes of faith accomplished the seemingly impossible, against all logic to the contrary.
Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
