Three Answers to Prayer, Yes, No, Wait. Part [11] 07/17/2026 (Evening thought)

2nd Corinthians 1: 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

Luke 18:5 “I will avenge her.” That’s a Yes. There isn’t anything wrong with a yes, and we are encouraged to pray in the positive, believing that God will hear and give us an answer. This is why The Lord instructs us to believe when we pray, that we will receive the petitions we asked. The key is to expect a Yes, with the possibility of a No, or a Wait. The other answer given in the parable was a Wait, whereby we are encouraged to continue pressing our petitions to the throne of grace, until we get a definite answer.

The Wait answer could be observed in the following passage, where it says that “He would not for a while. Luke 18:4 And he would not for a while: but after- ward he said within himself…. Here is where some believers often stumble, for it is often the case that we mistake a Wait for a No. Until a definite answer is given it is in order for us to keep on praying. That’s what Elijah did, when he prayed for rain, and it did not come until after the seventh prayer request.

The final answer was actually a yes, but during the interim period, he had to wait. 1st Kings 18: 41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink for there is a sound of abundance of rain. 42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, 43 And said to his servant, go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, there is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.

1st Kings 18:44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, go up, say unto Ahab, prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the rain stops thee not.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
