Ecclesiastes 1:10 Is there anything whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
Similarly, when the Gospel was taken to the entire then known world by the servants of God. We must seek to understand the ways and means Jesus then employed for as with almost everything else, history is scheduled to be repeated. Therefore, in the study of historical precedent we’ll observe some stunning similarities between sacred history and the here and now, as God wraps up the work of the Gospel throughout the world.
The first observation pertains directly to how Jesus chose His servants, who were scheduled to take the Gospel to the entire then known world. [1] None of the twelve disciples were ordained by the religious institutions of the day for the work of carrying the Gospel. The establishment leaders were not responsible for their ordination, for it was Jesus, who laid His hands upon them and anointed them for the ministry.
Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matthew 10:7 And as you go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
