Three Problems With Laodicea. Part [15] 07/09/2023 (Evening thought)

[Testimonies Vol. 4 pp 87] The Laodicean message applies to the people of God who profess to believe present truth. The greater part are lukewarm professors, having a name but no zeal. God signified that He wanted men at the great heart of the work to correct the state of things existing there and to stand like faithful sentinels at their post of duty. He has given them light at every point, to instruct, encourage, and confirm them, as the case required.

But notwithstanding all this, those who should be faithful and true, fervent in Christian zeal, of gracious temper, knowing and loving Jesus earnestly, are found aiding the enemy to weaken and discourage those whom God is using to build up the work. The term “lukewarm” is applicable to this class. They profess to love the truth, yet are deficient in Christian fervor and devotion. They dare not give up wholly and run the risk of the unbeliever, yet they are unwilling to die to self and follow out closely the principles of their faith.

Jesus bids the members of the last Christian church, to take stock of ourselves, to buy the gold that is tried in the fire, and be clothed with the righteousness of Christ, without which no one will be saved. We therefore end with a message of hope, for it is the will of God that Laodicea would turn and live, and indeed, according to what is written in the Bible very many persons would heed the counsel, and will be saved in God’s kingdom.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
