Does God Take Too Long? Part [12] 05/04/2023 (Morning thought)

Genesis 16:And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the Lord judge between me and thee. But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleases thee. And when Sarai dealt hardly with her, she fled from her face.

Brethren, believe it or not, this particular line of reasoning, which was adopted by Sarah and Abraham, is very often adopted by us in our own experiences, and if persons were to look back in retrospect, we may see where we may have made very grave and regrettable mistakes by succumbing to the erroneous belief that God is taking too long.

What Sarah did next, triggered a tsunami of adverse circumstances, the repercussions of which are still being felt today, for by taking matters into their own hands, they actually messed up God’s perfect plan, and brought upon themselves untold, unnecessary misery which they lived to regret.

The same scenario took place with king Saul who was told to wait upon the prophet Samuel, so that proper sacrifice could be made before going into battle. Saul waited and waited until the specified time had expired, and when Samuel did not show up, he, according to his own words, “Forced” himself and did the unthinkable. That impatience cost him the kingdom and was the beginning of his undoing.

1st Samuel 13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
