John 18:3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek you? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.
Let us pay very close attention to the two different modes of thought and action emanating from the same mind, one before conversion, the other, after the mind has been trained in forgiveness, through the indwelling of The Holy Ghost to the point where it becomes automatic.
John 18:6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. 7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. 10 Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. 11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
Acts 5:27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, 28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:34 Then stood up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, who had a reputation among the people and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space; 35 And said unto them, You men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do as touching these men.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
