A Substitute For Everything. Part [6] 10/16/2023 (Morning thought)

Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

[2] Substitute worship.

Exodus 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, and out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

The worship of images, including those claiming to portray Mary, St. Peter, or any of the other apostles and saints for that matter is strictly prohibited in the word of God and should never be a part of any form of worship, where God must be the center. God does not share the stage with any graven images of any kind, and therefore the veneration of saints is opposed to the clearest instructions in the Bible.

Psalms 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: 7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

Psalms 115:8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them. 9 O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: he is their help and their shield. 10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
