Romans 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
The same is true of me and you, who have all types of legitimate and illegitimate desires and cravings to battle with from day to day. Often, after quoting your memory verse the force of the temptation may become stronger, as desire clamors for the mastery.
Thus, it is God and God alone who can keep us from falling, and even though “It is written” has its place, the written word must always lead us to The living Person, even The Man Christ Jesus, who alone is able to save us from our own selves, all by Himself.
[The Desire of Ages pp 324] The only defense against evil is the indwelling of Christ in the heart through faith in His righteousness. Unless we become vitally connected with God, we can never resist the unhallowed effects of self-love, self-indulgence, and temptation to sin.
Jude 23: 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
