1st Kings 17:7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
There were other times in the Bible, when God had provided bread and water miraculously, such as the forty years of wandering, and during that severe drought which had occurred during the days of the prophet Elijah. At that time water had become quite scarce, for the streams, rivers, and reservoirs of the day had dried up, to the point where thirst and starvation, with all of its horrors was taking a fearful toll on the people.
But one of the provisions of God, mentioned in the Bible, pertaining to the last days of earth’s history, hints at something we are currently experiencing. And since it is occurring with increasing frequency and severity, it must be included in the signs of the times, the labor pains we read of earlier.
Therefore, in the following passage we must ask ourselves what is being defended against, that will require “A cloud of smoke by day” and “A flaming fire by night?” Remember, that God does not generally work a miracle if there is no need.
Isaiah 4:5 And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defense.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
