Psalms 104: 10 He sends the springs into the valleys, which run among the hills. 11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst. 13 He waters the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
These passages clearly reveal the sacred truth in the matter, that with all of our so-called independence, every person, without exception is a beneficiary of God’s mercies, wisdom and providence and without which society would unravel and come to nothing in short order. Hence the reason why the study for this evening will be pertinent to our deepening, and ongoing needs.
“If I Shut Up Heaven”
In the days of king Ahab and queen Jezebel, there was a fearful departure from truth to idolatry of the darkest hue, by which the children of Israel were being taught erroneous views and teachings as it pertains to the necessary blessings of life.
Baal was looked up to, and worshipped as the sole provider of rain, and the people were led by Jezebel to reject God as both Creator, and sustainer of life on earth, and as a direct result, Baal got the credit and praise for what God was actually doing.
1st Kings 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
