A Scripture For Everything. Part [3] 05/16/2022 (Evening thought)

2nd Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Before we get into the meat of the study, it is necessary for us to understand that the Bible is often used by men and demons for good as well as for evil. Passages of scripture are quite often wrested from their true meaning to justify alternative life- styles, vices, polygamy, and a host of other activities which God never endorsed or commanded.

During the dark ages, when millions upon millions of Christians were being martyred, it’s the Bible that was being referenced and misused to try to justify those atrocities and actions which caused humanity to shudder. That passage which speaks about Peter having the keys of heaven was used to install the vicar of Christ on earth, and since that time, various Biblical verses and a plethora of scriptural statements have been twisted, modified, distorted, and misinterpreted, to mean whatsoever persons desire them to mean.

In our day the scriptures are used to defend many spurious works of healing. Fake healers often quote verses from the Bible to show what the term slain in The Spirit means. And we have all seen congregants collapsed on the floor around some televangelist, as they are touched on the forehead, or blown upon.

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
