Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee.
Instead of making their move to the country hesitantly, with the living faith in God, shared by both spouses, their journey was made with anticipation, and expectancy, not with foreboding. This was not the case with Mr. and Mrs. Lot who were not on the same page spiritually, and who were reading from entirely different scripts when it was time for them to relocate.
At that time, one spouse became hesitant and upset at God’s command, and the differences began to be noticeable as one fell behind on their journey to the country, for unlike Sarah, some spouses are not too comfortable with country living. Thus, it was with Lot and his wife, one followed on with murmuring and complaining, whilst the other forged ahead in obeying God’s instructions.
In Abraham’s case, if Sarah had doubted, and if they were not on the same page spiritually the command from God would have seemed arbitrary to her and if she wasn’t reading from the same script, as was her husband Abraham, she could have made his life and his obedience very miserable.
Genesis 19:24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven; 25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground. 26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
