Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
In other words, even though husbands, and wives might be in different stages of spiritual growth, the mere fact that both are being led by The Holy Spirit would make life a whole lot easier even when many problems arise, because the common denominator of The Holy Spirit will make resolution and mutual agreement easier to accomplish.
For reference purposes, spouses being on the same page spiritually involves much more than the verbal agreements that they come to. It goes much deeper than that for it includes the foundational element of God being enthroned in each other’s heart, and as a result, God’s word is held supreme, when it comes time for decisions and actions.
It is not the will of God that marriages should hang by a thread where spouses are barely holding on for dear life. God desires robust relationships with good understanding between each other so that when an issue arises that needs to be dealt with urgently, the husband and his wife would already be on the same page spiritually, so as to make resolution as speedy and simple as is possible.
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
