Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
It is indeed very important for us to investigate this question thoroughly, especially in light of what is written about the creation of the new earth, which would take place at the end of the 1000 sabbatical years mentioned in Revelation chapter 20, and also in passages of scripture.
[The Great Controversy pp 673] While the earth was wrapped in the fire of destruction, the righteous abode safely in the holy city. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away.” [Revelation 21:1.] The fire that consumes the wicked purifies the earth.
It becomes obvious, that in creating a new heaven, and a new earth God employs the use of preexisting materials which are then run through the process of metamorphosis via intense heat, to produce a new world. Question: Did God follow this same script when He had originally created the world in Genesis chapter 1 and verse 1? Answer: No, He did not. In the original creation of the earth God employed the raw power of His word and spoke matter into existence.
Psalms 33: 6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spoke and it was done; he commanded and it stood fast.
