For By Grace Are We Saved. Part [3] 12/26/2022 (Evening thought)

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

It was in the context of these foundational truths of our relationship with Christ, that Jesus, on different occasions would speak as if it’s a done deal with any person who believes in Him, and who grasps these very important truths. When conversing with the woman at the well, Jesus did not dwell very much on the matters of the law; instead, we see Him driving home that all important point, that if a person is grounded in Him, that person becomes a well of water, springing up into everlasting life.

And it is because of these core tenets of truth which we observed earlier, why at times, Jesus and Paul in their sayings, might appear to make our salvation so simple and guaranteed. It has to do with folks never losing sight of Christ, whatever else one may or may not do. The man in the parable, who had built his house upon a rock, was spared from the onslaught of wind, flood and rain.

The reason given for his survival is simple: he had built his house upon a rock, and that Rock is Christ. Therefore, in all of the ups and downs of life, with all of its vicissitudes, the person who keeps Christ ever before his/ her face will not be moved. They will have their good and bad days just like anyone else, but when everything shakes out, they will be left standing.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
