2nd Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.
Evils, which folks in the sixties, and seventies never even dreamed of, have now become the norm, and what one would have recoiled in horror from in the days of yore, is now being gobbled up by persons in the here and now. Alternative lifestyles are no longer a subculture; it is a fact that mainstream dynamics have driven such philosophies to the very forefront of societal modes of thought and action, in so much that individuals who might dare to differ are now swiftly becoming an endangered species.
This is why it is so critically important for everyone who names the name of Christ, existing in such an environment that is increasingly hostile to anything that savors of righteousness, to be updated with the latest booster shots, that are found only in the word of God.
In fact, if one does not see the importance of study, it is just a matter of time before that persons falls. It is virtually impossible to maintain a level head, and walk the straight and narrow path with a steady and even tread, without regular references to the Bible.
Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
