John 11:47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. 53 Then from that day forth they took counsel to put him to death.
This was their response to the truth and the facts, in the face of an undeniable miracle? We were just hoping and wondering if the minds of the priests would be any different to pharaoh’s, as pertains to their reaction to the truth. But lo and behold, they chose to track a similar course to the Egyptian king, who buried his head in the sand, until himself, his firstborn, and his entire army were also buried.
The same self-inflicted wounds were done to the minds of so many who witnessed the stoning of Stephen. They, just like pharaoh, and the priests with Christ and Lazarus, and the rebels in Moses’ day, all had one thing in common: They refused to accept the truth and facts even when they were presented with undeniable evidence.
We were just wondering again what their response would be, as they saw with their own two eyes, his face glowing radiantly with the glory of God. Would they change their minds, or would they walk in the footsteps of pharaoh, the priests, and the rebels?
Acts 7: 54 When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
