1st Kings 18:21 And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
The next illustration is taken from the 1st book of kings, where the nation of Israel had been led deep into a form of science that taught its adherents that the sun and the moon gave their light, and the snow and rain fell upon the earth, on their own, without any intervention or interference from God. In consequence, a withering drought, with all of its attendant evils came upon the nation, and disease and destruction took its toll upon man and beast, with fearful mortality, very similar to what we are now witnessing today.
Thus, after the nation of Israel had been ravaged by drought and pestilence, it reached a tipping point, and, like the three Hebrews of Daniel chapter 1, a reasonable proposal was made by Elijah, one that should appeal to the better judgment of the people, and depending on the outcome, they would know what course to pursue.
Dear Dr. Fauci, in the two previous illustrations the science of the day, and the conventional wisdom of the experts back then was pitted against a different type of science and knowledge which was espoused by the three Hebrews and also Elijah, and when put to the test in public view, the results could not be reasoned away, nor gainsaid.
1st Kings 18:38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is the God; the Lord, he is the God.
May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
