The Shaking. Part [10] 07/25/2021 (Evening thought)

1st Samuel 1: Now there was a certain man of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of an Ephrathite. 3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli Hophni and Phinehas the priests of the Lord were there.

Back in the days of old, Elkanah and his wife Hannah did continue to attend church at a time when it was very difficult and questionable to do so. At that time it wasn’t an epidemic of diseases, it was a pandemic of sin that had shaken the confidence of the people, and as a result most of them had stopped attending church.

Eli’s two sons had made a mockery of religion, and stop and frisk was daily practiced at the door of the sanctuary as folks would come with their sacrifices and offerings. But finally, it reached a boiling point where even the sincere-hearted had become utterly discouraged. Yet, Elkanah and Hannah still went to church.

God never intended that church attendance should stop for any reason, because the church is to be a lighthouse in a benighted world. When things are not going well in the country, and fear and calamities have taken a hold on nations, then let the people of God open the doors of their church wide, so that all who will may find shelter, forgiveness, and repentance where necessary.

2nd Chronicles 7:13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
