Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.
According to Google, and according to the Bible, the practice of tattooing originated with pagans and was used to appease false gods, to ward off demonic forces, and for a plethora of other reasons, too many to mention. In our day currently, it has been adopted by gangs, by models, by those in the sporting industry, and by many Christians, who claim to believe the Bible.
But just because it has become popular does not mean that we should ever adopt or countenance it, because living by the word alone would move us to signally reject any and everything that isn’t Biblically sound. Getting a tattoo of Christ on the cross does not make it acceptable either, for what He prohibits in His word, remains as such.
Persons who have been previously tattooed may in some cases be able to remove them after baptism, but in other cases, persons may be scarred for life. Jesus accepts us as we are, but He doesn’t leave us where we are, and therefore, wherever it’s possible, those who desire to live by the word of God alone can, and should make the necessary changes.
2nd Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
