Living By The Word Of God. Part [6] 05/20/2021 (Evening thought)

2nd Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

The following therefore are some examples of how we are to live by the word of God alone, especially when the winds of unwarranted change are blowing in the opposite direction. It will not be easy, and we may face economic and social media boycotts, but if we desire to live in harmony with “It is written” all other considerations and pressures must be borne down and made subject to the word.

In the days of Nehemiah, there was a great need of reformation because the people of God had strayed very far from His ideal. God’s instructions, His laws, His statutes, and His principles were being violated in high and low places, and thus, when Nehemiah was raised up to bring the people back from their national apostasy, certain critically important areas needed to be addressed.

Over a period of time, many idolaters seeped into the congregation, bringing their pagan influences with them, and even though the gospel is given to all people, and should be made applicable to every person, yet, as a general rule of thumb, those who are only half-converted to the truth will inevitably end up exerting a gravitational pull on others.

2nd Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

May God add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
