Psalms 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old. 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments. 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
A battle for the mind unfolded anciently in a particular incident among the Hebrews, and which would be repeated as the countdown to eternity accelerates. Moses and Aaron were the two Divinely appointed leaders of Israel, but several prominent leaders of the nation rose up against them, and they refused to acknowledge their duly appointed authority.
In the process of time, through a series of lies and a host of seditious plottings, they then succeeded in inciting the multitudes to revolt. What followed was a frightful departure from facts and truth, to the point where it became incurable, and God was left no choice but to destroy all those who deliberately buried their heads in the sand.
When God shows us in unmistakable terms that we are in the wrong, that is a golden opportunity for us to repent, and if we do, our minds can be salvaged. But if we then continue in a pharaoh frame of mind, if we choose not to believe the evidences God is pleased to give, then there is nothing else He can do for us, and it will only be a matter of time before there will be a total collapse of the mind, for we will then be bereft of any reasoning power.
Exodus 8:18 And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. 19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said.
May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. “Good night” and God bless!
