Quenching All Fiery Darts. Part [6] 04/10/2021 (Morning thought)

1st John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

As Christians we are to expect great things from the God whom we serve, for very often we put invisible limits on what we think He can or cannot do. This is what made the difference when David, Saul and the men of Israel were facing a grave, national threat. It’s worthy of note that faith does not dispense with or minimize the gravity of any given situation.Instead, faith rises to meet any emergency, based upon the knowledge that with God, nothing shall be impossible.

Thus, David’s confidence was not presumptuous or boastful; it was built upon literal experiences that he had with God, to the point where the fiery darts of the devil, which came through the threats of Goliath, seemed like a piece of cake to him. When Saul questioned him about his confidence, he reflected on, and rehearsed his varying experiences with God as living examples of how he had formerly quenched fiery darts.

Some of us would need to kill some “bears and some lions” before we could have the confidence and assurance that’s needed to pass through the time of trouble. The last days that we are living in will present unusual perils and difficulties, pestilences and diseases of all sorts. Covid is a fiery dart, and like all other darts, it can and should be quenched using the shield of faith. If this were not the case, then Ephesians 6 is not all inclusive, which it absolutely is.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

May The Lord add His blessing to the study of His word. God bless!
